England's women in the netball!

There was one second on the clock when Housby netted to give England a seismic victory over the world champions, who they last beat five years ago. Until now every Commonwealth Games final had been contested between Australia and New Zealand. The last time England reached a global final was 1975 so simply being in the gold medal match was a significant achievement. To win, when the expectation down under was that the hosts would saunter to victory, could prompt a major shift in the world order.

As someone frequently found watching netball on a Saturday morning (no, not perving, Maddy is Capatain/Manager of a local club side) I can testify that it's a great game and now we have Commonwealth champions.

I wasn't up at 4.000 to watch it live but have since watched the whole match - well worth watching. If you do watch, superb defensive performance by Geva Mentor and great management by the Neville (Gary and Phil) sister, Tracey.

Ah, a Johnny Wilkinson moment, well done. What's the chances that the netball coach/manager will be similarly honoured like what Sir Clive Woodward did.

I watched the semi final and it went down to the last second. England were behind all the way until the end. Sorry if that's a spoiler.

Yes, that was a great game too against Jamaica.

In netball standings England are 3rd and Jamaica 4th so that's a touch more expected. the Aussies are ranked 1st and at home so that’s one reason it’s such an achievement.

Yep, it was like, say, to use a soccer metaphor, West Bromwich Villa* playing away and beating Manchester United .
