Syria

Was this a good idea or not? :dontknow:

I mean the recent strategic bombings, was this a "watch it, don't forget we're here" type attack or something that could escalate into something bigger and messier?

Pretty sure there are very few good guys fighting out there, but again Assad has potentially used gas on his own people makes him stand out as one of the biggest bastards out there.

IF it turns out he has used gas on his own people then it was the right thing to do was it not?

I really not sure what I think about it

With no parliamentary scrutiny, seemingly because Trump said so? I would say not a good idea.

Any why just Syria? Why aren't we wading into Yemen & Gaza too?

Have you ever disturbed an ants' nest revealing the eggs and workers? It's quite an extraordinary sight, the workers ants rush around gathering up the eggs and stuff and within minutes everything has been taken somewhere else. No trace of the nest is left apart from a few disgruntled ants.

Syria had a week to remove evidence, move hardware and stockpiles, move military equipment and planes to Russian bases and the West usefully let everyone know of the impending attack.

It was a gesture, a typical politicians' We Have To Be Seen To Be Doing Something. The gesture had to be made of course but it won't change anything.

What is interesting is the sudden appearance on phone-ins and in the media of people saying that the White Helmets are linked to Al-queda and the attck was either faked or carried out by these terrorists. Is this coordinated?

Were we not sort of over a barrel with the US over their response of the Nerve gas poisoning to a certain degree?

We've been to war before without parliamentary scrutiny, not that that worked out wonderfully before but it isn't a new precident.

Have Yemen and Israeli's used gas ?

More bombs, just what Syria needs.
To be honest, I think this has been an exercise in standing up to Russia, which is long overdue.

Yet it hasn't affected them at all. If anything it has given them a platform for their disinformation industry to get to work.

No and it's illegal since the PM didn't go and recall Parliament early before
the attacked Syria. Also the UN wasn't asked so without their agreement
it's illegal as well. What again another illegal war 'deja vu' Iraq

That's right but why did they go ahead before the inspectors even got to the site of the attack?

It was like Johnson's posturing about Porton Down saying the nerve agent attack in Salisbury was definitely the work of the Russians. The Russkies shrugged and said 'prove it'. Porton Down then corrected Johnson (after all, they had to to maintain their independent scientific credibility) and the Russkies laughed their snow covered boots off.

It's no illegal for either of those reasons. It's not a war, it was a targeted attack against (supposedly) installations that store has used illegally against a civilian population
