Yes, the Polish economy is booming - their 6.4% will soon be catching up with the Daily Mail’s ‘booming Britain’ at 1.8%!

That, of course, is one of the benefits of the EU.

Your team wants to sign that Polish lad from Bayern, he can play a bit and, if you’re quick, you’ll get him before we take back control.

Still waiting for some proper answers from our board immigration expert - Alt-Right Lily’s R Us should have something.

I hate to break it to you but Albania and Romania are not the same.

Besides which, how many of the stabbings were done by Albanians?

I blame the Turks myself, and maybe the scousers - they like to import drugs too and several gangsters from Essex, when they’re not leaving each other in Range Rovers down country lanes...

Our Tai won the Warsaw speedway GP last Saturday week.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s8mxrBYFMkc

Tai rides for Bertard Sparta Wroclaw in the Polish Ekstraliga and Masarna Speedway in the Swedish Elitserien, used to ride for Wolverhampton aswell at one time.

http://www.speedwaygp.com/rider/tai-woffinden

Second GP of the season tonight.

"Polish racer Maciej Janowski admitted “I feel a better rider every year” ahead of tonight's Czech SGP."

Magic used to ride for the Poole Pirates, not sure how many Polish riders in the British league this year, Poland is the strongest speedway country, clash of race nights stops those who ride in the Swedish and Polish league also riding in the UK, must be more lucrative in those two leagues.

Nearly, Woofy made the final as top scorer but was slammed into the fence and out of the race by Sweden's fast Freddy the eventual winner, Woofy should have taken a leaf from football and gone down, stopping the race. Pretty sure Freddy would have been excluded from the re-run.

A bit of Brexit connection for you, I think the UK work visas the Aussie boys get are at present valid in the whole of the EU.
There was a bit of trouble at the King's Lyn Stars last season over track conditions, ending up with the promoter waiting until a day after the season transfer window closed and sacking a couple of his Aussie stars. Troy and Chris were also riding for Polish clubs.

"Batchelor is fuming to have been left jobless just days after the SGB Premiership transfer window closed last Friday.
With no chance of securing a spot for the rest of the season, his UK visa could be in jeopardy, leaving him facing the possibility of being deported and barred from riding in Britain for 12 months."

http://www.speedwaygp.com/news/article/ ... rs-sacking

I would guess that Tai only riding in Sweden and Poland these days is an avid remainer.

There’s a ‘Hobbies And Interests’ thread, or maybe the ‘Leisure’ thread for this sort of thing.

You mentioned the Polish economy Max, I was pointing out the pros and cons of Brexit to the professional speedway rider. I don't know of any other job that would see you in three EU countries every week, do you?
Btw, before we joined the EU the national league (2nd div) was restricted to just GBR and Commonwealth riders, effectively OZ/NZ, one foreign rider was allowed in each British league team (1st div).
That's reversed now with OZ/NZ barred from the lower league, EU allowed.

Visa time for Woofy?

Anyway, it’s disgusting, surely we have some native speedway riders that could do his job!

Most likely Tai will need a work visa when we leave, he's from Scunthorpe and lives in the Midlands.
Shouldn't be a problem anymore than for the Russian/US riders in the Polish/Swedish leagues.

Yeah, but they’re stealing our jobs.

You’re not telling me we UK riders aren’t as talented and hard working - this isn’t the building trade you know!

Like the building trade you have to get an apprenticeship first to develop your talents, we are certainly not the power in the speedway world that we were in 1975.
Correction on the Aussies being barred from the lower leagues, they need work visas/permits now where before we joined the EU they didn't.

Keep ‘em all out, I say.

If our lads had a chance to develop without all these foreigners we’d be able to beat them and keep all our prize money.

C'mon Max.....

Speedway is just so exciting you have to engage with all the intimate details....

Get real.....

Yes indeed.

And still no further forward with the logic of the Romanians, who is running the EU - Germany or Wallonia, and the reality of ‘booming Britain’.

I do remember Ivan Maugher (?).

If I remember, it was Wrestling or Speedway on tv on at Saturday afternoon half-a-century ago.

Les Kellett was my favourite.
